Ormandy Philadelphia Orchestra Bernstein New York Philharmonic Perform Selections From 2001 A Space Odyssey with The Gregg Smith Singers. Columbia Stereo MS 7176. Conceptually, it was a brillantly assembled LP - including the 'Suite' from Blomdahl's 'Aniara' with Werner Janssens was a masterstroke (there was never another recording of the Suite, I don't believe, and the music so compliments '2001'), and adding 'electronic effects' by Morton Subotnick was another brillant idea. The album was overwhelming and creepy at the same time (like the film).
Side 1, "2001 A Space Odyssey". with the Philadelphia Orchestra, under the direction of Eugene Ormandy. I brought the complete Karl-Birger Blohmdahl Aniara on CD in 1986. Reason: added details.
