Himself is the debut album by Irish singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan, first released in the United Kingdom in August 1971 by MAM Records, following the success of the Top 10 hit "Nothing Rhymed", which features on the album. It was produced by Gordon Mills, whom O'Sullivan had contacted after failing to achieve success for three years.

Running to 3 minutes 27 seconds, "Nothing Rhymed" was released on the MAM Label backed by "Everybody Knows". Nothing Rhymed" was released October 30, 1970; he was at Mills' house when a call came through to say it had charted at number 30. This fully orchestrated, somewhat enigmatic song was a breakthrough for O'Sullivan. and went on to become a massive hit on both sides of the Atlantic. It has also been widely recorded; in Dutch as "Niets Gedaan" (with lyrics by Frank Houtappels), and in Italian as "Era Bella" (with lyrics by Daniel Pace).
