Around the World in a Day is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the third to feature his backing band The Revolution. It was released on April 22, 1985 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Departing somewhat from the commercial sound of his previous release, the massively successful Purple Rain (1984), the album instead saw Prince experimenting with psychedelic styles and more opulent textures.
The album was mostly recorded between January and December 1984, although Raspberry Beret had first been recorded in 1982 (it was re-recorded in September 1984). Pop Life was the first new recording for the album, recorded in February 1984. Around The World In A Day was demoed (by David Coleman, with no input by Prince) in June 1984, and recorded by Prince in August 1984. America was recorded in July 1984, Raspberry Beret, Tamborine and Paisley Park in September 1984. Condition Of The Heart and The Ladder followed in October 1984, initially tracked during rehearsals for the Purple Rain Tour
Prince had made his interior world sound fascinating and utopian on Purple Rain, but Around the World in a Day is filled with cryptic religious imagery, bizarre mysticism, and confounding metaphors which were drenched in heavily processed guitars, shimmering keyboards, grandiose strings, and layers of vocals
Prince and the Revolution. Album Around The World In A Day. Around The World In A Day Lyrics. Open your heart, open your mind A train is leaving all day A wonderful trip through our time And laughter is all you pay. Around the world in a day Around the world in a day. Now dig: Loneliness already knows you There ain't no reason to stay Come here and take my hand, I'll show you I think I know a better way, y'all.

Purple Rain made Prince sound like he could do anything, but it still didn't prepare even his most fervent fans for the insular psychedelia of Around the World in a Day.
