Apocalypse by Tod Dockstader. Tod Dockstader's second Starkland CD begins with the composer's pulsing, spatially-shifting Traveling Music. The CD's major work is the brooding, ominous Apocalypse. The composer details the disparate elements of this four-part masterpiece: "Apocalypse followed Luna: I wanted to do something heavier, thicker in texture, more unruly and alarming – a concrète Dies Irae. The slowed (creaking) doors and the cat-cry toy are central to it: they provided the threat and despair I wanted.

Tod Dockstader (March 20, 1932 – February 27, 2015) was an American composer of electronic music, and particularly musique concrète. Dockstader was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. He moved into work as a sound engineer in 1958, and apprenticed at Gotham Recording Studios, where he first started composing

Luna Park (1961) Travelling Music (1960) Apocalypse (1961). The notes by Edward Tatnall Canby are excerpts from a broadcast made on November 25th, 1962, in New York City. These tracks were included on the CD Apocalypse released by Starkland (ST-202). Catalogue number variations are: ORLP 6 on front cover, ORLP-6 everywhere else.
