Salvatore Massaro is better known as Eddie Lang (1902-1933), the abundantly-talented Philadelphia-born fretboard genius who played a pivotal role in helping the guitar come to prominence as a solo instrument. John Leslie Wes Montgomery couldn’t read a note of music but that didn’t stop him from being one of the most remarkable and shed guitar players in the history of jazz.
