Q65 was a Dutch R&B-based garage rock and psychedelic group formed in 1965, that is often considered one of the more prominent bands associated with the Nederbeat rock wave that took place in the Netherlands in the 1960s. In early 1965 guitarists Joop Roelofs and Frank Nuyens joined with singer Willem Bieler to start the band. The line-up was completed with the addition of drummer Jay Baar, formerly of Leadbelly's Limited, and bass player Peter Vink.

On about half of this album, it's as though they'd stopped listening to Howlin' Wolf and, instead, started absorbing Led Zeppelin, while other songs show off some psychedelic flourishes. The music is still blues-based at its roots - and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" is fine as a low-key exception to the rest of the original LP - but some songs are ornamented with fine, elegant flute and lyrical acoustic and electric guitar breaks ("Baby Don't Worry," "Please Come Back to Me"), and a spaced-out mindset.

Normaal - Ojadasawa Die Tied Hebt Wi-j Gehad. Cuby + Blizzards - Window Of My Eyes - Their Sixties 45s. Normaal - De Wilde Joaren. Q65 - Were Gonna Make It.

One of the finest psych into prog albums ever made, combined with one of the top five laminated psychedelic gatefold sleeve ever leaked out makes this a must have and a price tag that reflects it BUT you do NOT want the dutch original as it has a horrible rock and roll medley on the B side, you need the German original on Hansa as that has the tracks on side two that appeared later on the dutch we're not gonna take it posthumous LP. I simply don't understand why this happened as the tracks on the german original clearly come from the same session as side one and the whole LP makes stunning psychedelic sense that way. Maybe they thought they could get two LPs out of it and maybe the Germans thought, stuff that, lets have a complete classic album released here! Musically this is definitely post acid daze garage psychedelia into prog, for once the heavily accented vocals in english make perfect sense. the commune has gone wrong, the drugs are bad, the cops are busting his friends, he's getting older and the weather is.....average. The guitar, however, is burning, psychedelic sunset and the songs, yearning masterpieces from a broken mirror. Buy an original.
