Kaspar Fischer was an incredible allround artist, actor (theatre), writer of fairy tales and cabaret, drawings, and, as shown here, some audio works like this masterpiece Tellsplatte. First you have to understand German and even Swiss German to get the full of his incredible art of juggling with words. Der Rote Faden, incredible story leading to Golf of Aden for a company manufacturing motorbikes, started with the "file rouge roter faden" and back home hahaha The good old days of vinyl are blessed. That's what Kaspar is doing at the start of Tellsplatte.

Hotel Restaurant TELLSPLATTE, Sisikon, Switzerland. Willkommen im Hotel Restaurant Tellsplatte.

Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer (some authorities use the spelling Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer) (. 656 – August 27, 1746) was a German Baroque composer. Johann Nikolaus Forkel ranked Fischer as one of the best composers for keyboard of his day; however, partly due to the rarity of surviving copies of his music, his music is rarely heard today. Fischer seems to have been of Bohemian origin, possibly born at Schönfeld, but details about his life are sketchy.

He is not the normal cabarettist with funny stories. He mostly plays with with sense of words. And he has real mad ideas! He masters association chains of similar sounding words or cutting words in half, pronouncing them different to give another meaning, double meaning etc. Mostly very funny and intellectual. (There is a joke in German: you ask a child "Did you see the Blumento-Pferde?" thus pronouncing like "Blumento"-horses, in reality is means flowerpot earth = Blumentopf Erde). On his posthum CD Metamorphosen 2001 one should listen to Lachblues (mix between crying and blues guitar sound with the mouth), Metamorphose (a trip he took as an actor from Zürich to Munich, where he changes the slang to show the change of region and level of education and work he has to do (stage German is very eclectic vs. street language vs Zürich dialect etc). Der Rote Faden, incredible story leading to Golf of Aden for a company manufacturing motorbikes, started with the "file rouge = roter faden" and back home hahaha. And: Tellsplatte.. The good old days of vinyl are blessed. Remember your favourite LP gets a scratch and the needle jumps back to the second before = worst case scenario! Scratches start with slow clicks until they disturb the music or even jump as mentionned, then they fade out again. That's what Kaspar is doing at the start of Tellsplatte. As story background Kaspar uses the Swiss history of William Tell 15th century folk tale (read here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tell ). Wilhelm Tell, our national hero, symbol of independence from Kings and Masters. Je jumped from the boat to the Tellsplatte (read here http://www.tell.ch/schweiz/tellsplatte.htm or http://history-switzerland.geschichte-schweiz.ch/william-tell-switzerland-hero.html ). Kaspar uses the double sense for the real place in Canton Uri at the Lake of Four Cantons (read also in Friedrich Schiller's Tell) and Platte = Schallplatte = record. Thus, he starts: "Zrockk, zrockk, zrockk zrockk... bringen Sie die Platte nicht zrockk... bringen Sie die Platte nicht zrockk... bringen Sie die Platte nicht zrockk... bringen Sie die Platte nicht zrock in das Geschäft wo sie sie gekkkk.. in das Geschäft wo sie sie gekkkkk.. in das Geschäft wo sie sie gekkkkk-auft haben, der Tell kam auch nur durch ein Sprkk... der Tell kam auch nur durch ein Sprkk... der Tell kam auch nur durch ein Sprung auf die Platten....etc" - I know that reads maybe boring but you have to listen to this. Imagine, he is the only artist to my knowledge who has taken that terrible scratch accident to a artistic manifestation in a joke. Excellent beginning for tons of associations chains and absurd twists and turns. Hearing is believing.. It is impossible to describe in words what fun it is to listen to his programm. He switches back and forth between the Tell saga and a music record (incl recording instruments & jazz band). Must hear! / in Tracks A9-11 he imitates a jazz band (drums, trumpet, double bass). Simply divine!
