Small Faces were an English British Beat band formed in 1965 by Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, and Jimmy Winston (who was soon replaced by Ian McLagan). Heavily influenced by American rhythm and blues, they later evolved into a psychedelic act before disbanding in 1969.
Small Faces is the debut album of the Small Faces, released in May 1966 by Decca Records. It includes the hit singles "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" and "Sha-La-La-La-Lee". The album was well received by music critics and was popular with the public, rising to number 3 on the UK album chart remaining at the top for several weeks. The album was recorded at IBC Studios, Portland Place, London between June 1965 and February 1966. Glyn Johns was the studio engineer
Small faces - big hits - UK 14 track original lp p/s (V2166) - out of stock.
The Small Faces’ followers were ready for their debut album. The diminutive Londoners had emerged in the UK singles chart in September 1965 with the top 20 hit ‘Whatcha Gonna Do About It’ and followed it in February of the new year with the major top three success ‘Sha La La La Lee’. In the spring of ’66, they were on the radio with their new single ‘Hey Girl’ when Small Faces hit the streets. Both of their first two hits were included on the album, which contained largely their own material but opened with a version of ‘Shake’ by the ever-influential Sam Cooke. Comedian, entertainer and 1960s hitmaker Kenny Lynch was not only one of the LP’s producers but co-wrote ‘Sha La La La Lee’ and ‘You Better Believe It,’ wrote ‘Sorry She’s Mine’ solo and sang backing vocals on all three.

Many Small Faces songs are spelled different across different releases. ta states that "if no definite proof can be found for the correct, the most common version of the track title is to be used". Since I have not found any proof for a correct spelling for any of these songs, I will list what I believe are the most common spellings. Feel free to improve this list. Afterglow of Your Love. The notorious sloppiness of the Faces was apparent on their debut, almost moreso on the cover than on the music, as the group was stilled billed as the Small Faces on this 1970 debut although without Steve Marriott in front, and with Rod Stewart and Ron Wood in tow, they were no longer Small. They were now larger than life, or at least mythic, because it's hard to call an album that concludes with a riotous ode to a hand-me-down suit as larger than life.
