Cover Stories is the perfect example of Brandi's creative genius and generous spirit. She brought together some amazing artists (most notably Dolly Parton, Pearl Jam, Kris Kristofferson, and the Avett Brothers) for a cause that is sadly so relevant right now. Taking away the politics and the controversy of war, Brandi simply uses her music for good and sheds a light on the most innocent and affected among us- children. As a longtime Brandi fan, the highlights for me were Dolly's rendition of The Story and Margo Price's Downpour. Brandi Carlile enlisted friends and would-be friends to cover the songs on the original album to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The album, which will benefit War Child UK, comprises covers of songs from Carlile’s 2007 album The Story. Scroll down to hear Dolly Parton’s take on the title track. Most of the songs were recorded last year, one exception being Adele’s take on Hiding My Heart, which came out as a bonus track in 2011 and inspired the release.

All proceeds from the album will benefit War Child UK, an organization dedicated to supporting children affected by conflict  . Reflecting on The Story's 10th anniversary Carlile says, "This album defined our band and welded The Twins and me to one another forever. It's been a transformative experience to revisit it 10 years later and watch it become something bigger than me.
