The following is a list of notable garage rock bands. It is not exclusive to collective bands, but also includes solo acts who have created music in this style (usually backed by accompanying musicians). The list features artists from the US and Canada, but also includes similar acts from other countries. The 13th Floor Elevators (Austin, Texas). The Aardvarks (Muskegon, Michigan). The Ace of Cups (San Francisco, California; all-female group). The Allman Joys (Daytona, Florida).

The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands is the fourth studio album released by the American rock band the Turtles. Produced by Chip Douglas (who returned to work with the Turtles after a brief stint shepherding The Monkees' transition into a live band), it was released in November 1968 by White Whale Records. It includes John Barbata's final recorded performances with the band; he left shortly after its release to join Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

There was a time - about twenty years ago - when the appearance of a third volume of a 60s garage compilation series (a la Pebbles") qualified as an underground vinyl event. In 2002, the same development deserves, at best, reserved optimism. Since the heyday of legendary anthologies like Pebbles and Back From The Grave, the inevitable exhausting of quality material has resulted in a wasteland of watered-down successors. What else can be said 'bout Ski Bum by the Moguls, which is right outta the "Steppin Out" school of hard stomps? Northwest Battle Of The Bands Volume Three (the entire series, for that matter) deserves a spot in your record collection. By Jeff Jarema (Jeff Jarema is the man behind the late, lamented Here 'Tis - currently he writes for Hit List magazine)".

Kicking off, the greatest of all garage bands, the Sonics, from Tacoma in Washington. Given that they formed in 1960, and featured saxophone prominently, the Sonics had plenty in common with frat rock. But the attitude was pure garage: their songs were vicious and furious and delivered by singer Gerry Roslie in a voice that couldn’t have been further from Elvis, let alone Perry Como. Most of his recordings are instrumentals (the Shadows had a big UK hit with one, a cover of Apache), but this 1966 B-side shows him embracing the sound he’d helped spawn with a rare vocal.

Organizing a battle of the bands event usually requires about three months of planning. Think about the event in stages-such as before, during and after-to get a better handle on the different areas of attention needed. When organizing a battle of the bands, you work to support two different audiences: the bands that are participating, and the audience that is listening. Part of the event includes judging. Organizing a battle of the bands is hard work, but it can be fun when you know what to think about and plan for. Three Months in Advance

One of the most influential bands of all time Electronic version of Beatles I can't believe that only 3 percent agree. Most of the influence from modern music no matter what genre, comes from Kraftwerk and most artists and musicians have multiple elements of Kraftwerk in there songs. They're just awesome anyways. The band's music combines elements of folk music, power metal, black metal and symphonic metal with various other influences.
