The Big Come Up is the debut studio album by the American rock duo The Black Keys, released in May 14, 2002 on Alive Records. The album was created in Akron, Ohio, also known as the Rubber City. As the two began to grow up, they realized that rubber companies, such as Goodyear, were a dying industry. They knew they were not guaranteed an automatic job by achieving a college degree, so the two dropped out of college to pursue their musical career.

The Black Keys is an American rock band formed in Akron, Ohio, in 2001. The group consists of Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums). The duo began as an independent act, recording music in basements and self-producing their records, before they eventually emerged as one of the most popular garage rock artists during a second wave of the genre's revival in the 2010s.

I purchased my copy in 2002. It is white vinyl. The cover is glossy, not matte. The material is thick, however. Either I am missing something, which is entirely possible, or there is another, first pressing, White vinyl version. Every other aspect of the description, run outs etc. is identical. Anybody else in a similar situation?

Yes - Matte card inside the cover, glossy outside. White vinyl - same runout - no barcode - got it from a record store in 2002.

Cherry The Countess

I purchased a copy in 2007 with white vinyl, so it must be this first pressing, as the white vinyl reissue came out in 2009. My cover also appears glossy, but with thicker material. So yeah, I'm not convinced the description here is accurate.

I have a translucent orange copy of this album, unlike the solid neon orange on some photos attached to 2009/2015 listings here. I've had it for at least 5 years, maybe more. Bought from a legitimate record shop in the UK, no barcode. I would describe the cover as semi-glossy. I would add another listing on here but don't have enough info, the reissues of this title are a minefield!Can anybody share any release information about it?

Rocksmith

Beware a later pressing also on white vinyl. I have both pressings and unfortunately the only way to visually distinguish between the two is the thicker, matte cardboard jacket of the first pressing. Later pressings had thinner, cheaper glossy jackets.

Mine has a fairly thin and glossy cover - white vinyl - bought 2002 at Red Eye Records in Sydney, Australia.

Is it in any way possible for you to take pictures of the covers in a way that would distinguish them from each other? I imagine that light would show sligtly different on the matte cover than on the glossy one.I always believed I had a first press, but it seems I might have a repress after all and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the ones sold on here as first presses are in fact the 2009 repress.

Now available on Yellow and Pink vinyl this is a perfect time for fans who may have caught the Black Keys fever a little later in the game (or for the collector who wants to impress his emo/punk friend who owns the same LP in 28 different colors). You may recall this was repressed last year on 180 gram vinyl. This has now sold out, along with the original pressing on white vinyl. These LPs will set you back only $12 and can be purchased directly from Alive at the Bomp! store here. Don’t wait too long and while your at it do yourself a favor and pick up one of the other fine LPs they offer. Radio Moscow is a good choice for Black Keys fans.
