Barclay James Harvest are an English progressive rock band. They were founded in Oldham, in September 1966 by guitarist/vocalist John Lees (b. 1947), bassist/vocalist Les Holroyd (b. 1948), Stuart "Woolly" Wolstenholme (1947–2010), and t Mel Pritchard (1948–2004). After signing with EMI's Parlophone label in the UK for one single in early 1968, they moved to the more progressively inclined Harvest label.

All of the tracks work significantly better as live cuts than they do in their original studio form. Lees' guitar and Wolstenholme's keyboards work together very well on-stage and within the songs. The only complaint one could have is the price - for just under 80 minutes of music, the two CDs could have been combined on one disc.

Barclay James Harvest Live is a music live recording by BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST (Crossover Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1974 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. This was BJH's first live album, released shortly after they switched labels from Harvest to Polydor. Consequently, many of the tracks are from their albums recorded for their former label. The album kicks off with the majestic "Summer Soldier" from the "Baby James Harvest" album. This is as prog as BJH got, being a 10 minute piece in two distinct sections with a strong peace message, and a memorable guitar refrain.
