Since Tom Price, a masterful minimalist, was never part of Seattle’s pop,-metal, or grunge scenes, it’s easy to take him for granted, but that would be a mistake. From the U-Men to Gas Huffer to Monkeywrench, the singer-guitarist has stayed true to his garage-punk roots: no sellout moves, no major-label deals. If age hasn’t diminished his fire, Parkinson’s disease has put a dent in his productivity, but the Tom Price Desert Classic isn’t a job; it’s the culmination of a lifelong passion, and the band has only released one album in eight years (2014’s Hell)

First time I have seen them, and they had to wait for 3 other bands to play, so wasnt to many people by then, but they seemed interesting. Heavy sound, good songs. Somewhat garage-y type of sound, but that was to be expected. Definately better then the other bands they played with. Would seem better in a slightly bigger venue playing with bands like Mudhoney.

Desert Northern Hell. The atmosphere: The overall feel of this album is all-out mercilessness. The guitars are always blacker than darkness itself, the drums hammer away in an artfully crude manner, the bass is inconsistently audible, and the vocals evil and cutting as they come. This all creates a very "black" feel, for lack of a better word. Battles in the North, what I consider to be black metal's other defining album comes off as grim and cold. This is definitely a different, altogether more evil kind of black metal.
