The Red Shoes is the seventh studio album by English musician Kate Bush. Released on 2 November 1993, it was accompanied by Bush's short film, The Line, the Cross and the Curve, and was her last album before a 12-year hiatus. The album peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and has been certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), denoting shipments in excess of 300,000 copies

Some copies came with a "Made in Holland" sticker on the back. Ten years ago, I am sure "The Red Shoes" LP would have cost an acceptable 25 EUR a piece, and that is still a reasonable price for a second hand record to purchase.

If not her strongest work - a number of songs sound okay without being particularly stellar, especially given Bush's past heights - Red Shoes is still an enjoyable listen with a number of diversions. The guest performer list is worthy of note alone, ranging from Procol Harum pianist Gary Brooker and Eric Clapton to Prince, but this is very much a Kate Bush album straight up as opposed to a collaborative work like, say, Santana's Supernatural

Bush's follow-up, "Aerial", was released in November 2005. The musical style was far more simple and direct than on any album since "Never For Ever". The initial plan had been to take the songs out on the road, so Kate deliberately aimed for a live band feel, with less of the studio trickery that had typified her last three albums, and which would be difficult to recreate on stage.
