Welcome to the Pleasuredome is the debut studio album by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, first released by ZTT and Island Records on 29 October 1984. Originally issued as a vinyl double album, it was assured of a UK chart entry at number one due to reported advance sales of over one million. The album was also a top ten seller internationally in countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, and New Zealand.

Welcome To The Pleasuredome is FGTH’s fourth single, their first not to reach in their homeland of the UK. It peaked at kept from the top spot by the Philip Bailey/Phil Collins song Easy Lover in early 1985. It reached the top 20 in five other European countries and peaked at in the US. On its namesake album, the track is an epic – over 13 minutes long – and is sometimes listed as Snatch Of Fury/Welcome To The Pleasuredome. Snatch Of Fury represents the opening line, which is a vocal snippet from FGTH’s cover of Jerry Marsden’s 1964 hit Ferry Cross The Mersey

Strip away all the hype, controversy, and attendant craziness surrounding Frankie - most of which never reached American shores, though the equally bombastic "Relax" and "Two Tribes" both charted well - and Welcome to the Pleasuredome holds up as an outrageously over-the-top, bizarre, but fun release. Less well known but worthwhile cuts include by-definition-camp "Krisco Kisses" and "The Only Star in Heaven," while . smash "The Power of Love" is a gloriously insincere but still great hyper-ballad with strings from Anne Dudley

Frankie and Welcome To The Pleasuredome were a crucial pop experiment, messing with formulae and heads in equal measure. You could call them a singles band, but it’s only when you explore their entire Pleasuredome that you can really appreciate their value. Never mind the bollocks. Here’s the whole fucking package. Made In Germany
______________
Track 1 listed as "Welcome To The Pleasuredome (Original 7 Inch)" on cover and "Welcome To The Pleasuredome (Original 7")" on CD.
Track 4 listed as "Welcome To The Pleasuredome (Pleasurefix Original 12 Inch Mix)" on cover and "Welcome To The Pleasuredome (Pleasurefix Original 12" Mix)" on CD, but it's actually "Welcome To The Pleasuredome (Real Altered)". This mistake occurs on many releases. The Pleasurefix is a mainly instrumental mix found only on The Power Of Love 12" (XZTAS 5).
Although the insert and CD print say "Made in Germany", the CD matrix contains "MAYKING" which would indicate that it was pressed in the UK.
