TASDF Self Love is a collaborative release between Touche Amore and Self Defense Family members. Self Love was created by 15 musicians working together as one band, all eventually captured by engineer Will Yip (Blacklisted, Title Fight) at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA. A-Side Circa 95 is an upbeat combination of Touche Amore’s explosive emotional leanings and Self Defense Family’s trademark cynicism. As the song twist and turns, it peels and curls to reveal layers of guitars and dueling percussion. All while lyrically paying subtle homage to hardcore legends Unbroken.

2014 was a prolific year for the post-hardcore band Self Defense Family, who released four EPs and a full-length in a mere 12 months. The band collaborated with Touché Amoré to create their latest EP, Self Love, which will be released by the legendary label Deathwish Inc. next week. The A-Side, Circa 95, is a howling track whose lyrics feature a fair amount of iconographic religious imagery, whereas Low Beams sidles up to Touché Amoré’s emo persuasions. The record, titled Self Love, is not a split, but instead a large group effort in which 15 musicians collectively wrote as one unit. Engineer Will Yip recorded the EP at Studio 4. The Self Love 7″ is due for release March 10. Stream Circa 95 below. Self Defense Family released their fourth album (and first under the name Self Defense Family) Try Me last year. Self Defense Family will release an additional EP on March 10, a split with Creative Adult. That record will be a joint release between Deathwish, Inc. and Run For Cover Records.
