I've been meaning to phone you but from minnesota. Hell it's been a very long time. A little old fashioned but that's all right. Well I suppose you're thinking I bet he's sinking. Haven't left a mark on you, you wear it well. A little out of time but I don't mind. But I ain't forgetting that you were once mine. But I blew it without even tryin'. Now I'm eatin' my heart out. Tryin' to get a letter through.

Rod Stewart is the self-titled album by Rod Stewart, which was known as Every Beat of My Heart because of the popular single on the album. It is his fourteenth studio album, released in June 1986 (see 1986 in music). The album cover features the artist’s name quite prominently; thus the album is simply known in the United States as Rod Stewart. It was released on Warner Bros. Records (WX 53, 925 446-1). Stewart recorded "You Wear It Well" for the album Never a Dull Moment, and released it as a single on 12 August 1972. The song became an international hit, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart. In the US, "You Wear It Well" peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Stewart performed the song live on BBC's Top of the Pops with the full lineup of The Faces, along with Martin Quittenton on classical guitar and Dick "Tricky Dicky" Powell on fiddle joining them.
Stewart released his second album, Gasoline Alley that autumn. Stewart's approach was similar to his first album and mandolin was introduced into the sound. He then launched a US tour with the Faces. You Wear It Well" was a hit single that reached number 13 in the US and went to number one in the UK, while "Twisting the Night Away" made explicit Stewart's debt to Sam Cooke. For the body of his early solo work Stewart earned tremendous critical praise. Rolling Stone's 1980 Illustrated History of Rock & Roll includes this in its Stewart entry:.
