Tim is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band The Replacements. It was released in October 1985 on Sire Records. It was their first major label release and also the last album made by the original line-up of the band: guitarist Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band towards the end of 1986. Like its predecessors, Tim achieved moderate mainstream commercial success despite critical acclaim

Mats mania doesn’t end there.

Let It Be is the third studio album by American rock band The Replacements. It was released on October 2, 1984 by Twin/Tone Records. A post-punk album with coming-of-age themes, Let It Be was recorded by the band after they had grown tired of playing loud and fast exclusively as on their 1983 Hootenanny album; the group decided to write songs that were, according to vocalist Paul Westerberg, "a little more sincere.

Bill DeVille recounts early live shows. Ultimately what made the 'Mats great was Paul Westerberg's songs. The Replacements shows were wildly inconsistent. A great Replacements song can make you laugh and cry in the same tune. They were songs that you could relate to. Songs that made you feel joy and the pain that we all feel. The local legends' lyrics, album art and yesteryears have ultimately given the Twin Cities a handful of historical hometown landmarks. Cover Me Impressed: the story behind the 'Tim' album art Deborah DeStaffan of New York was the art director of the Replacements'

Chronicling The Replacements' gloriously tempestuous decade on a single disc ostensibly seems akin to reading Cliff's Notes for the New Testament: No sooner do you grow fond of the protagonist than they've nailed him up. And if that comparison sounds a tad sacrilegious, perhaps you underestimate the Mats' hallowed place in modern rock history-and the hearts of their ardent fans. These songs are addicting and will stick in your head forever, that's what it did for me at least.

The Replacements recorded their next album as a trio in Memphis, Tennessee, with former Big Star producer Jim Dickinson. The resulting album, Pleased to Meet Me, was more streamlined than their previous recordings. During the tour for Pleased to Meet Me, guitarist Slim Dunlap filled the vacant lead guitarist spot and he became a full-time member after the tour.
