Rock ain't Dead" is the second studio album by British melodic hard rock band "Heavy Pettin", originally released in 1985, reissued by "Majestic Rock" in 2003. Though often regarded as a NWOBHM group, "Heavy Pettin" actually debuted a year later in 1983; in addition the band brought to front a sound and image that hard more in common with American AOR and glam metal than British heavy metal
Rock Ain't Dead is probably the greatest 'lost gem' of 80s rock. probably the greatest 12 minutes in 80s rock. If this had been released anytime after '86 I feel it would've been a commercial smash. I saw the video for "Rock Ain't Dead" yesterday on VH1 Classic's Metal Mania hour. Now I remember why I don't have this album - Hamie has one of the worst voices I've ever heard! Which is a shame, because musically they were pretty good.
