Bailterspace) is an atmospheric noise rock band that formed in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1987 as Nelsh Bailter Space; they had previously recorded as The Gordons. Its members are Alister Parker (guitar, bass), John Halvorsen (bass, guitar), Brent McLachlan (drums/percussion, samples). After releasing seven studio albums, numerous EPs/singles and a career retrospective compilation, Bailter Space went on an extended hiatus in 2004
Bailter Space (aka Bailterspace) is a noise rock group formed in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1987. Its members are Alister Parker (guitar, bass), John Halvorsen (bass, guitar) and Brent McLachlan (drums, samples). The sound of Bailter Space changed several times between 1987 and 2003 but certain aural and lyrical consistencies existed throughout.

Starting with the alternately tender and driving "Fish Eye," Thermos finds Bailter Space coming fully into their own. McLachlan, having engineered Tanker, takes over for Kilgour on this record, restoring the original Gordons lineup. Rather than indulging in simple nostalgia, though, the threesome expand on the strengths of their previous releases to create possibly their best album yet - under either name.
