The album was first released as a vinyl LP Album by Leon's new label Paradise Records and Wounded Bird Records. Americana was re-released on CD by Wounded Bird in 2007 and again in 2012 by Ais. The album was by produced by Leon Russell.
Leon Russell is the debut solo album by the singer, songwriter and t Leon Russell. It followed his debut with the Midnight String Quartet and a production by Russell and Marc Benno billed as the Asylum Choir. A Song for You written and sung by Leon Russell for this his first solo album is a slow, pained plea for forgiveness and understanding from an estranged lover, the tune is one of Russell's best-known compositions.
