Andrew Wegman Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American indie rock t, singer, and songwriter. Since 1996, he has released 15 studio albums, as well as several live albums and EPs, spanning various genres including swing music, indie rock, and folk music. He is primarily known for his violin playing (accompanied by loop and effect pedals), whistling, and voice.

Originally sold on the Chicago artist’s 2007 European tour, this eight-track EP comprises demos, rarities, and outtakes that had accumulated during the first five years of Andrew Bird’s solo career. Yet Soldier On feels fully realized rather than happenstance, thanks to some especially rich examples of his unabashedly idiosyncratic blend of folk, jazz, rock, and more experimental instincts. Over the past decade, Andrew Bird has released six albums that trace a remarkable artistic progression. Soldier On, a long, eight-track EP sold at shows on his European tour, doesn't bear the Fingerlings name, but it serves much the same purpose, gathering one demo, one remix and a trove of other artifacts from his past couple years of recording.
