The basic sound of the group is unchanged - there’s heavy emphasis on the vocals of Sky Saxon, and the main instrumental load is carried by the piano player. The material is more subtle this time, especially lyrically, but the powerful, driving sound which all the things on the first LP had is also present here. Lunch time dig. The Seeds second album from 1966 A Web of Sound. I know this band from their song Pushing Too Hard on various Nuggets Records. They’re known for their psychedelic music and considered a prototype for garage rock bands.

The Seeds second album "A Web of Sound" is a MAJOR step forward in every area from their crude-to-the-bone debut. Sure more than a couple of the songs here are still based on the primordial two-chord riff from their one big hit "Pushin' Too Hard", but at least this time they actually kinda sound like different songs because they have now learned to play choruses that have different chords than the verses! First track "Mr. Farmer" was released as a single and just missed the top 40, and is certainly a lost classic from the summer of love
