He commissioned Nigel Westlake’s Piano Sonatas I (1998) and II (2004) and Piano Concerto (2000) and gave the premiere performances  . 22 "The Hinchinbrook Riffs". The Hinchinbrook Riffs is officially the second volume of some of Westlake's chamber music. For those who are familiar with and enjoy Omphalo-Centric Lecture and Westlake's Onomatopoeia album (Vol. 1 of his chamber music), the two works here that will appeal to them the most are The Hinchinbrook Riffs and Kalabash. The movements in each fit together well, as does the interplay of instruments in the String Quartet and Piano Trio.

Westlake was born on 6 September 1958 in Perth, Western Australia, to Donald Westlake (principal clarinet with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra) and violinist Heather Westlake (née Sumner). He went to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, but left the school early to pursue a professional career in music, studying clarinet with his father. At age 17, Westlake started freelancing with various orchestras As a clarinettist, he worked doing recording sessions, chamber music concerts, theatre & ballet performances and tours  . It was premiered by the Sydney-based percussion group Synergy. It was recorded through the use of multitrack recording by Michael Askill in 1995 on the album "Onomatopoeia". 1985: Won Jazz Action Society Composition Competition.
