My meeting with Sgt. Pepper came when I bought the album for my elder sister’s 18th birthday. what a wealth of sounds, genres, effects, surprises, very generously scattered with words of madness and sanity.
Agalychnis callidryas, known as the red-eyed treefrog, is an arboreal hylid native to Neotropical rainforests where it ranges from Mexico, through Central America, to Colombia. It is sometimes kept in captivity. The scientific name of the red-eyed treefrog, A. callidryas, comes from Greek words kalos (beautiful) and dryas (a tree or wood nymph). The species has red eyes with vertically narrowed pupils. It has a vibrant green body with yellow and blue with vertically striped sides
Red eyed tree frogs seem to be everywhere: from computer screen savers to advertisements – these little frogs have hit the big time! Their green colouring and big red eyes are no accidents; the red eyed tree frog has evolved to fit a particular niche in the rainforest ecosystem.
Red-eyed tree frog eggs are laid under leaves that loom over water, so that when the eggs hatch, the tadpoles can fall directly in. These frogs-to-be generally hatch about a week after being laid, but they can emerge sooner, after just four or five days, if their survival depends on it. Because some species of snakes and wasps like to dine on the jelly-like eggs, the tadpoles are equipped with a special defense plan: If they detect movement or vibrations, they hatch prematurely and make their escape.
Every morning the goose laid a golden egg, and soon he became rich by selling his eggs. As he grew rich he grew greedy, and thinking to get at once all the gold the goose could give, he killed it and opened it only to find nothing. Greed often overreaches itself.
Many scientists believe the red-eyed tree frog developed its vivid scarlet peepers to shock predators into at least briefly questioning their meal choice. Colorful Adaptations. These iconic rain-forest amphibians sleep by day stuck to leaf-bottoms with their eyes closed and body markings covered. When disturbed, they flash their bulging red eyes and reveal their huge, webbed orange feet and bright blue-and-yellow flanks. This technique, called startle coloration, may give a bird or snake pause, offering a precious instant for the frog to spring to safety . Red-eyed tree frogs, despite their conspicuous coloration, are not venomous. How the Environment Has Changed Since the First Earth Day. Do You Know How to "Go Green"? Eat like a god on this sun-soaked Greek island.
Red-eyed tree frog belongs to the family Hylidae (tree frogs). It can be found in the southern parts of Mexico, Central America and in the northern parts of South America. Red-eyed tree frog inhabits lowland tropical rainforests. Major threats for the survival of red-eyed tree frogs in the wild are habitat loss (due to accelerated deforestation) and climate changes. Luckily, number of red-eyed tree frogs in the wild is still large and stable. These animals are not on the list of endangered species.
Birds prepare their eggs for the worst, whether the risk comes from predators or just the location of their nests. Its nest is a scrape dug out of earth, where it incubates its eggs for about a month.
