Gordon Giltrap is an English guitarist and composer. His discography consists of 22 studio albums, 7 live albums, 15 compilations, 2 videos, 1 EP, and 11 singles. 1968: Gordon Giltrap (Transatlantic) - later reissued on cassette as The Early Days (Allegro ALC) with a different track sequence. 1969: Portrait (Transatlantic). 1971: A Testament of Time (MCA). 1973: Giltrap (Philips)

This aptly titled release is an entirely live, direct-to-digital recording of solo acoustic guitar performances by Gordon Giltrap, encompassing nearly the entirety of his solo career. The Solo Album is very much an album for the fans, featuring most of Giltrap's best-known and most beloved tunes - yes, "Heartsong," the theme to a popular British holiday program and probably Giltrap's most famous tune, is included - given unadorned and straightforward readings that sketch out the beauty of Giltrap's melodies but don't expand upon them or experiment.

As the title correctly implies, this 1992 album is a solo album in the strongest sense of the term. Other similar albums by Gordon Giltrap such as Elegy and Troubadour are both better releases. I can therefore give only a single star to The Solo Album.

Fear of the Dark is a 1978 studio album by guitarist Gordon Giltrap. It is the last of the album trilogy that started with 1976's Visionary and continued with 1977's Perilous Journey. The album was remixed and re-released in 1998. Iron Maiden who released a similarly titled album years later feature drummer Nicko McBrain who played on an earlier Giltrap album, and that Giltrap notes that the Iron Maiden logo uses a similar font to the "Gordon Giltrap" logo on this album. All music by Gordon Giltrap.

Gordon served his apprenticeship as a singer/songwriter on the London folk club circuit, and his self-titled debut album was released in 1968. Each subsequent album broke new ground, and he developed a extraordinary repertoire while establishing a reputation for thrilling live performances. In the late Seventies, Gordon enjoyed a brief spell as a pop star, with a hit album (Perilous Journey) and two hit singles (‘Heartsong’ and ‘Fear of the Dark’). Heartsong was nominated for an Ivor Novello award and is fondly remembered as the theme tune to the BBC’s Holiday programme.
