Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound is a psychedelic rock band formed in San Francisco, California in the early 2000s. Originally consisting of a trio - Michael Lardas, Jefferson Marshall, and Charlie Saufley - Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound grew to a seven-piece by 2009 with the additions of ts Anderson Landbridge and Camilla Saufley and harmony vocalists Brett Constantino and Evan Reese.

To celebrate Assemble Head's hometown gigs in March, here's a little film for "Slithery Thing", a track from our latest LP Manzanita. The video was put together by our video making buds Dyer/Green and assembled from their lush live shots and vaguely psychedelic video detritus shot by Charlie and Ethan Miller. Fortunately, the Assemble Head appear to have the necessary goods at ready supply, equipping the melodic "Mosquito Lantern" with a clever inversion of Floyd's "Lucifer Sam" riff, and plotting out the prog-inclined "Occult Roots" with a procession of dark, swirling arpeggios. Occasionally, as on the title track or the ferocious "D Brown", the group do put their cavernous solos before their songcraft, leaving the listener with the afterimage of a vague, generalized din rather than a specific chorus or melody. From the vantage of these peaks it is easy to imagine the Assemble Head eventually moving their sound outward into a more progressive direction, one where they are perhaps a little less inclined to settle for their affectionate browsing through the stoner rock archives.
