Something is a 1970 album by Shirley Bassey. This was the first Shirley Bassey studio album not to be issued in mono. Also that year, her album Something was released, and showcased a new Bassey style, a shift from traditional pop to more contemporary songs and arrangements (the eponymous single was more successful in the UK charts than the original recording by The Beatles) – although Bassey would never completely abandon what that had been her forte: standards, show tunes, and torch songs. Diamonds Are Forever (film) Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) Burn My Candle Let's Face the Music What.
In keeping with the title, Shirley Bassey's follow-up to her 1970 hit LP Something does indeed present a bit of a change of direction. In fact, it's a step back to her MOR dates of the mid-'60s; the album includes no recent rock standards, and the arrangements focus on full-orchestra symphonic pop with fewer nods to the contemporary scene. Though it didn't chart quite as high as its predecessor, it did make the Top Ten while her version of "(Where Do I Begin) Love Story" hit the Top 40 in Britain
