Another multi-platinum seller in their homeland, yielding a pair of number one singles, the record was also eagerly embraced by the band's supportive global fan base and led to the most ambitious world tour of Nightwish's career, then, perhaps not surprisingly, 2009's Made in Hong Kong (And Various Other Places) live album. To be clear, though, this was actually a mini-live album, containing just eight in-concert recordings of songs from Dark Passion Play, which were then rounded out with two B-sides and a demo - also from that same LP. I remember in my teens I was disappointed by Kiss live recording, whenever even my inexperienced ears easily noticed all this mistakes in music played and singing. So many years gone, so modern rock-circus could be a bit more polished. Welcome to Nightwish show - rock circus for middle class teens. I was curious to see how the new vocalist would sound like live and all I can say is that the band chose the right path: instead of trying to get an opera singer like Tarja they decided to get one with a different style completely and that could still sing the earlier stuff convincely. I had the chance to see a video of the new line up playing a festival in Holland and I was surprised when I saw that Anette is a charismatic singer with a strong stage perfomance and a very nice voice (no comparisons with the unique Tarja, please!)
