Back in the mid '80s when this album came out, there was no real reason for it to exist. No tracks were exclusive - every song had been comped before - most of them on the Pebbles series. However, what the compilers did was pretty clever as every track is an absolute classic - an all-time '60s US garage punk primo-deluxe stone classic. So, unlike many comps of the music, there's no feeble also-rans to pad out side 2, no wimpy ballads and no half-assed frat-type covers. Every single track is a golden garage nugget of the first order. Consider it a kind of 'meta-comp' - its great to have and kind-of essential. The sound quality is generally better than Pebbles too.Brought to you by the Beware crew, the same people who gave us Various - Wavy Gravy and Various - It's Finking Time (60's Punk Vs. Dancing Junk)... and possibly some of the Desperate Rock 'N' Roll series. '80s boots that broke the mould (at the time).
