Letters is the fourth album by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb, released in 1972 by Reprise Records. Letters was a more sedate, piano-oriented album than its predecessors, and soaked in the influence of Webb's peer and eventual close friend Joni Mitchell. I was tremendously influenced by Joni Mitchell," he admitted to Peter Doggett of Record Collector in 1994. She was a good friend, and I was fortunate enough to be around her when she was working on For the Roses and Court and Spark.

All songs written by Jimmy Webb. The Last Unicorn" – 3:07. Now That I'm a Woman" – 2:36. That's All I've Got to Say" – 2:42. Tribute to Burt Bacharach and Jim Webb (1972).

Singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb's new memoir takes a lurching journey through the world of pop music in the '60s and '70s. MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh no! It's an epic song about the demise of one of Webb's many relationships, which flow into and around one another in the hazy narrative of The Cake and the Rain

Someone Is Standin' Outside.

Songwriter Jimmy Webb hits the high notes in The Cake and the Rain. For those who want a good-and at times incredible-story of muses, merriment, melancholy, melodrama, along with touches of ordinary life and multiple near-death experiences, this is your book. Fans who have attended his concerts through the years know full well that Jimmy Webb always has some fascinating tales that stand on their own, without the aid of some of the greatest melodies the human ear has been fortunate to catch. As always Jimmy's recollections are clear enough to give a rich synopsis of his career that still continues to pack concert venues. No tone is left untuned so to speak of the master songwriter, as he is more than open about his drug use and the characters that surrounded him. The story is only taking the reader so far in the book. I look forward to reading about his later life.

Oh, someone left the cake out in the rain. And wondering why. MacArthur Park is melting in the dark. All the sweet, green icing flowing down. Oh, someone left the cake out in the rain. And I don't think that I can take it. 'Cause it took so long to bake it.
