Asylum is the 13th studio album by the American rock band Kiss, released in September 1985. The album marked a continuation of the glam metal sound of preceding album Animalize. Asylum is the first album to feature lead guitarist Bruce Kulick as an official band member. Kulick had replaced former guitarist Mark St. John on some tracks on previous album Animalize (1984) during the latter's absence due to reactive arthritis

The album marked the appearance of Kiss' fourth guitarist in four years, Bruce Kulick - brother of Bob Kulick, who played as a session guitarist on Alive II, Killers, and Paul Stanley's 1978 solo album - who had replaced Mark St. John on the 1984-1985 Animalize tour. Although the band again treads on Spinal Tap territory with "Uh!

Asylum" is one of KISS' strongest offerings from the 80's. While it does contain a couple of misfires, the album as a whole is pretty good. Paul Stanley turns in another solid performance and took part in production duties for this album. Gene Simmons, despite being listed as one of the producers, was losing a grip on his role in the band, but you can't hear it on this album. 1987 would bring on an even more mainstream sounding KISS album with "Crazy Nights," and the group would sustain its popularity into the very early 1990's.

KISS frontman Paul Stanley has posted a photo of himself with his 99-year-old dad on Twitter, and wrote a special message to him. Paul wrote: Happy Fathers Day To My Dad! . Ace says he wrote the original version of the song back in KISS’s heyday in the ’70s. In addition to Ace’s distinctive guitar sound on each track, Ace played bass on all of the songs on Spaceman except for two.
