Pink Floyd have been known to perform and/or record a number of songs and instrumentals which have never been officially released on a single or album. Only those whose existence can be reliably confirmed are listed here. Bootleg recordings of the majority of below listed songs exist. Several previously unreleased songs appeared on The Early Years 1965–1972 box set in November 2016, which marked their first official release.

Pink Floyd‘s eternally popular song cycle has sold more than 15 million copies in the . since its release on March 1st, 1973, and more than 45 million units worldwide. As Waters told Rolling Stone in 2011, Dark Side was the first that was genuinely thematic and genuinely about something. And as artists like Radiohead and Flaming Lips (both of whom have been profoundly influenced by Dark Side) can attest, the album’s music and lyrics still hold up beautifully today. Here are 10 things you might not know about Dark Side of the Moon.

The discography of Pink Floyd, a British progressive rock band, consists of fifteen studio albums, three live albums, nine compilation albums, four box sets, five extended plays, and twenty-seven singles. Formed in 1965, Pink Floyd initially earned recognition for their psychedelic or space rock music, and, as they evolved, for their progressive rock music. They are known for philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative cover art, and elaborate live shows.

Originally released in 1973, The Dark Side of The Moon became Pink Floyd’s first number 1 album in the US, remaining on the chart for 741 weeks between 1973 and 1988. One of the best-selling and most critically acclaimed albums of all time The Dark Side of The Moon also introduced The iconic album cover artwork by Hipgnosis featuring a prism representing the band’s stage lighting, the record’s lyrics, and the request for a ‘simple and bold’ design.

I didn't care for it much when I first heard it, preferring DSotM and Animals, but now I absolutely love the album. Still love Animals and DSotM as much, if not more now, but Meddle has risen above the other albums faster than any other album I've grown to love.

During the making of the album, Thorgerson claims that Pink Floyd were "not entirely together as a band", which is where the concept of absence for the album came from. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' (1987). This was the first album after Roger Waters left and Pink Floyd continued as Nick Mason and David Gilmour. Thorgerson was brought in to give it a 'Floyd look'. This 'divorce' was marred by such bitterness and acrimony, and the aftertaste lingered for some years. It still does, in my opinion.

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" remains the bestselling double album of all time. A new documentary, "Roger Waters The Wall," charts the story of the landmark recording and that of its key creator. Breaking down walls: Pink Floyd's story comes to cinemas. The story of Pink Floyd. British musician George Rogers Waters was one of the founders of Pink Floyd. The band's catapult to stardom came with the concept album "The Dark Side of the Moon" in 1973. While Rogers conceived the idea, all four members contributed compositions and it remains the most successful album from the group. From 2006-2008 Waters went on to tour the album as a solo artist. The album's laser prism artwork has become truly iconic.
