Measure of a Man is Clay Aiken's debut album, released on October 14, 2003, five months after the conclusion of the second season of American Idol. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was, with 613,000 copies sold in its first week, the highest-selling debut for a solo artist since Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle in December 1993. It was number one on the Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks and received a Multi-Platinum certification November 17, 2003.

Clay Aiken’s charms have never been of the modern persuasion - even when he was giving Ruben Studdard a run for his money on American Idol he seemed a throwback, either to the ‘60s when he could be singing show tunes, or to the late ‘70s when he could be singing gauche soft rock. He sang the latter on 2008’s On My Way Here, creating a record with a measure of credible modern appeal that didn’t quite turn out a hit, so he opted for his other style on 2010’s Tried & True, whose very title admits that he’s not experimenting this time around.

Clayton Holmes "Clay" Aiken (born Clayton Holmes Grissom; November 30, 1978) is an American singer, television personality, actor, politician, and activist. He first gained fame when he came in second place on the second season of the reality singing competition American Idol in 2003. His debut album, Measure of a Man, released in October 2003, went multi-platinum

Can't Take My Eyes off You. What Kind of Fool am I? It's Only Make Believe. There's a Kind of Hush.

Tried And True features Aiken's unique covers of classic songs from the 1950s and 1960s including 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You', 'What Kind Of Fool Am I?', 'Mack The Knife', 'Unchained Melody', 'There's A Kind Of Hush' and 'Suspicious Minds'. I believe that with this album, Clay Aiken has demonstrated that he is willing to stretch, and that he is here to stay. 3 people found this helpful.

For Clay Aiken, Tried and True was about getting back to himself after a career performing more pop-oriented material. There are a lot of elements to this album that are about me returning to what I'm comfortable with,' Aiken says. I've often joked with friends that I feel like I was born at the wrong time because the person I am and the songs I like to sing are all from earlier eras. To me, older songs are more melodically appealing and beautiful. So doing this album was kind of an opportunity to just be myself.
