Blue-eyed soul (also known as white soul) is rhythm and blues and soul music performed by white artists. The term was coined in the mid-1960s, to describe white artists who performed soul and R&B that was similar to the music of the Motown and Stax record labels.

Blue Eyed Soul (1967). Album by The Boogie Kings. Hold On, I'm Coming by The Boogie Kings feat. is a cover of. Hold On!

The Boogie Kings (also known as The Fabulous Boogie Kings) are an American Cajun swamp pop and blue-eyed soul group. The band formed in Eunice, Louisiana in 1955 consisting of teenaged members Doug Ardoin, Skip Morris, Bert Miller and Harris Miller. In the mid-1960s, the band expanded to include Ned Theall, a trumpeter from Abbeville, who became the group's leader.

I have the vinyl of this and all of their records. The Boogie Kings were quite simply the best dance band in the USA. The vocals, horns, strings, acoustics and Hammond 3G organ sound of the Boogie Kings has been imitated but never duplicated. Some of the mainstays of this great band are no longer with us but, this CD allows their music to live forever.

Some of these songs are more crossovers, blending genres like pop and rock. No list of the best blue-eyed soul songs would be complete without tunes by The Righteous Brothers. In fact, a Philadelphia disc jockey is said to have coined the phrase blue-eyed soul when describing Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield’s music.
