It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log But when I get home to you I find the things that you do Will make me feel alright, ow. So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone You know I feel OK. When I'm home everything seems to be right When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight
A Hard Day's Night (mono mix). 2. Tell Me Why (mono mix). 3. I'll Cry Instead (mono mix). 4. I Should Have Known Better (instrumental) (mono mix). 5. I'm Happy Just To Dance With You (mono mix). 6. And I Love Her (instrumental) (mono mix). 7. I Should Have Known Better (mono mix). 8. If I Fell (mono mix). 9. And I Love Her (mono mix). So this was really just a nostalgia trip for me to hear the George Martin versions of This Boy, A Hard Day's Night, I Should Have Known Better and And I Love Her. I grew up hearing these instrumentals scattered among the actual Beatles songs, and was curious. I still enjoy listening to them. 3 people found this helpful.
Having conquered hearts in the United Kingdom throughout 1963, The Beatles set their sights on the world in 1964. And despite their whirlwind schedule of touring and studio sessions, the soundtrack to A Hard Day's Night turned out to be one of The Beatles' strongest long-players. We knew each other on all kinds of levels that we didn't when we were teenagers. The early stuff – the Hard Day's Night period, I call it – was the sexual equivalent of the beginning hysteria of a relationship. And the Sgt Pepper-Abbey Road period was the mature part of the relationship.
Nevertheless, that decision still impresses, not only because the album is so strong, but because it was written and recorded at a time when the Beatles were constantly touring, giving regular BBC concerts, appearing on television and releasing non-LP singles and EPs, as well as filming their first motion picture. In that context, the achievement of A Hard Day's Night is all the more astounding. Not only was the record the de facto soundtrack for their movie, not only was it filled with nothing but Lennon-McCartney originals, but it found the Beatles truly coming into their own as a band.
