Moondawn is the sixth album by Klaus Schulze. It was originally released in 1976, and in 2005 was the thirteenth Schulze album reissued by Revisited Records. Moondawn is Schulze's first album that was performed in a full Berlin School style. The 2005 Revisited reissue included the bonus track "Floating Sequence", an alternate version of "Floating".

Moondawn is quite probably Klaus Schulze's crowning achievement. The album utilises technology that was at the forefront in its day, yet today the sounds that come from Moondawn can be easily compared to many modern electronic musicians. This is partly due to Schulze's massive impact on the electronic music world, with his improvisational approach to composing, paving the way for modern electronic music makers.

He is also one of the best and most original. Moondawn is one of the true classics of the genre. For many serious listeners, this was the first and/or most important electronic music purchase. There is good reason for such sentiment - this is a great album. It is definitely hardcore Berlin school electronica and much more. Like his contemporaries, Schulze added some extra flair to his style. This album has loads of ambient atmospheres accompanying the deep sequences.

On Moondawn Klaus Schulze was accompanied by Harald Grosskopf on drums. Klaus Schulze first attracted attention as a member of the German pioneers of electronic music, Tangerine Dream. This 1976 album is excellent and is somewhat similar in texture to Timewind (1975). The most noticeable difference however, is that drummer Harald Grosskopf (Wallenstein, Cosmic Jokers) plays a full drum kit on Moondawn, and with great results.
