X is the tenth album by Klaus Schulze. It was originally released in 1978, and in 2005 was the fifth Schulze album reissued by Revisited Records. On X Schulze attempted to execute a concept album of six "musical biographies" evoking contemporary or historical intellectuals with an influence on Schulze: Friedrich Nietzsche, Georg Trakl, Frank Herbert, Friedemann Bach, Ludwig II. von Bayern, and Heinrich von Kleist
In 1971 Schulze started a solo career as an electronic musician and released a couple of heavily experimental albums, "Irrlicht" and "Cyborg"
X is a music studio album recording by KLAUS SCHULZE (Progressive ve Rock) released in 1978 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Klaus Schulze - "X" (Sechs Musikalische Biographien) - Brain - 0080.
This discography contains all of Klaus Schulze's solo records, as well as most of his musical collaborations with other artists on records. Samplers containing only (parts of) previously released Klaus Schulze tracks are not mentioned here. All others are mentioned in detail in The Works. The given times of both the single tracks of an album as well as the complete albums are only approximations
Each track on X or "Ten" (since it's Schulze's tenth release ) is titled after famous German personalities, but it's the provocative electronic music within the names that makes this one of his best albums. On this two-CD set, Schulze's sequencer is joined by electric guitar and drums, that pleasingly brings an earthy, simplistic feel into his pastiches.
Once Klaus Schulze started his solo career (after short stints in both Tangerine Dream and in Ash Ra Temple), he was in the zone. His debut solo album Irrlicht came out in 1972, and a mere 6 years later he released X (pronounced Ten, for being his 10th release in just 6 years, and nothing to do with being X -rated-that would be for his 1977 release for the Body of Love soundtrack). X (2016 reissue; 2 CDs; 7 tracks including 1 bonus track; 160 mi. opens with Friedrich Nietzsche, a 24 min. suite that starts quietly but eventually finds itself humming away with a nice sequencer.
