Thomas Fehlmann was born 1957 in Switzerland. In Hamburg 1979, he founded the avantgarde band Palais Schaumburg together with Holger Hiller. He moved to Berlin in 1984. After Palais Schaumburg split in '85, he dedicated himself to his home studio and the sampler, releasing records as Ready Made. In 1988 he founded the Teutonic Beats label, whose compilations featured early contributions from artists like Jörg Burger, Wolfgang Voigt, Moritz von Oswald, Sun Electric and Westbam. Thomas Fehlmann returns with his new single "TITAN ONE, DFM" for Kompakt on 31 January the ideas really coalesce into something magical, as a burst of percussion lifts the song beyond its ambient origins and sends it twirling into airy wonderment.

Thomas Fehlmann is integral to Kompakt and the labels history. His solo releases and collaborative work with Alex Patterson as The Orb have been some of the Kompakts most revered and cherished tunes. The hum of cellos and strings conjoin Fehlmanns electronics – held together by the sublime, unobtrusive thump of a bass drum. Titan One flows with a beauty and edacity that is rarely heard in both classical and electronic music form. The B-Side features a new recording inspired from the second piece of the performance - a new version of Thomas Fehlmanns Du Fehlst Mir from his 2006 Kompakt full length Visions Of Blah.
