Fables of the Reconstruction, also known as Reconstruction of the Fables, is the third studio album by American alternative rock band . The Joe Boyd-produced album was the first recorded by the group outside the United States. It is a concept album with Southern Gothic themes and characters. Despite the growing audience and critical acclaim experienced by the band after its first two albums, Murmur and Reckoning, .

s third full-length recording, Fables of the Reconstruction delivers the purest distillation of the band's early sound. With the exception of the horn-laden, radio-friendly "Can't Get There from Here," the songs form a connected soundscape. Nearly transparent production highlights the glittering guitar arpeggios, active bass, and the disciplined, patterned drum lines, with organ and spare string arrangements adding texture to several pieces.

See All. Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982-2011.

s "difficult third album" Fables Of The Reconstruction, could only have been recorded by one band, and is one of Michael Stipe's favourite records. s Fables Of The Reconstruction. Published on. October 16, 2017.

The remarkable thing is that Murmur, Reckoning and now, in 2010, Fables of the Reconstruction (or Reconstruction of the Fables – the cover was designed so that the title becomes an infinite, unending loop) sound not just old albums reborn, but like brand new ones. Part of that is down to the remastering – which makes Fable. ound bolder and crisper than it did before – but really, it’s testament to the timeless nature of Berry, Buck, Mills and Stipe’s songwriting. This third effort marked a change in direction for the band, who infused its 11 songs with dark, unsettling undertones.

Fables of Reconstruction is a great album if you want some dark, folk tunes and some strong vocals. Stripes vocal delivery is quite simple. He has an odd voice, he mumbles and wails the lyrics through the microphone. There are no well known songs on Fables of Reconstruction but that doesn’t matter because all of these songs stand well on there own. I would recommend this to folk/rock fans instead of fans of pop music. Keep in mind that this album is quite eerie and depressing, so don’t purchase this if you can’t take some dreary tunes. There really isn’t anything upbeat about this album, the songs are simple folk tunes and they are equally effective as all other . As far as ranking of .
