Thaw Holy Cat. eyes. The first time I put it in the cd player, I was intrigued, the trance pulled me in and hasn't let go yet! It calls to me sometimes, "Put me in the cd player. Thaw's debut album attempts to fuse together sacred chanting to a form of trance music. It's a brave attempt and will no doubt enthrall those who have waited five years for new material from Loop Guru. The opening track 'Adi' is an excellent introduction to Thaw's music. It's reminiscent of Trans-global Underground with it's ethereal vocals - as the track bounces through it's seven minutes, vocalist Linda Conroy starts off like Natacha Atlas, before slowly transforming into Bjork.
Thaw is a Foetus Interruptus album released by Self Immolation/Some Bizzare in September 1988 and also released on Some Bizzare 1995, by Thirsty Ear. The track "English Faggot/Nothin Man" was inspired by a harassing message Thirlwell received on his answering machine. All tracks written by J. G. Thirlwell. Martin Bisi – engineering.

Thaw however pulled a Dead as Dreams and stretched their musical ideas out way too much to the point of stagnation. Whatever good moments on Thaw are buried within a layer of atmospherically stale music that doesn't achieve anything. The main glaring problem with Thaw is that simply put; it's boring. It's pretty intense and helps to stop this album from being completely shit. However they're the only good things about this album as everything else is just completely abysmal. The main problem with Thaw is how utterly empty everything feels. The music feels thin, shallow and detached, it's not entertaining to listen to because the whole thing is so worn out that it just doesn't stand out to me. It's just really unmemorable and there's nothing really interesting about this release.
