Christopher "Chris" Ballew (born May 28, 1965) is an American musician best known as the former lead singer and 'basitarist' of the alternative rock group The Presidents of the United States of America. He also performs as a children's artist under the pseudonym Caspar Babypants. Ballew grew up in Seattle and attended middle and high school at The Bush School, where he met Dave Dederer, with whom he would later form The Presidents of the United States of America.

There are a few forces at work here! Historically I have written songs quickly and if they did not make the cut I would just discard them to the trash heap.

Caspar Babypants makes high quality simple music with integrity that is rooted in American folk traditions mixed with a light sense of humor and imaginative fun. Influences include Dan Zanes, Ella Jenkins, Elizabeth Mitchell, Spider John Koerner, The Beatles and Classical music (you know, the classical kind). Themes include centipedes, tigers, rabbits, googly eyes, elephants and babies. There are original tunes mixed with traditional songs that have been updated in inventive and tasteful ways. A future classic! As a bonus, the CD includes a cover of Sliver by Nirvana featuring Krist Novoselic.
