Wild Life is the debut album by Wings and the third studio album by Paul McCartney following the breakup of the Beatles. The album was recorded during July–August 1971 at Abbey Road Studios by McCartney and his wife Linda along with session drummer Denny Seiwell, whom they had worked with on the previous album, Ram, and Denny Laine, formerly of the Moody Blues. It was released by Apple Records on 7 December, in both the UK and US, to lukewarm critical and commercial reaction.

It's easy to get irritated by the upfront cutesiness, since it's married to music that's featherweight at best. Then again, that's what makes this record bizarrely fascinating - it's hard to imagine a record with less substance, especially from an artist who's not just among the most influential of the 20th century, but from one known for precise song and studiocraft. Here, he's thrown it all to the wind, trying to make a record that sounds as pastoral and relaxed as the album's cover photo
Oh No No Bernie Paul. Report illegal content.
Like many debut albums, Wings' Wild Life wasn't a real reflection of what was to come, its guiding ethos being Paul’s intention to record the entire piece quickly. Taking just two weeks, Wild Life was about spontaneity: the opening track ‘Mumbo’ was recorded in one take. I’d read that Bob Dylan had just made a quick album, Paul explains, and I really liked the idea, because we tended to take longer and longer to make records. The early albums by The Beatles hadn’t taken long and it seemed to me that Dylan was getting to that
It's Wings' debut album, yes, it's patchy, and overall the performances don't touch what Wings did later on when they really got it together, but the familiar McCartney melodic genius is dependably present (on the beautiful "Tomorrow" most especially). So is his generosity of spirit ("Dear Friend") in the face of withering attacks against his character from critics and ex-bandmates alike.
The world "wild" applies to The words "you" and "me". While taking a walk through an African park one day I saw a sign say, "The animals have the right of way". Wild life, whatever happened to Wild life, the animals in the zoo? You're breathing so hot A lot of political nonsense in the air You're making it hard For the people who live in there You're moving so fast But, baby, you know not where . You're breathing a lot Of political nonsense in the air You're making it hard For the people who live in there. Wild life (wild life) What's going to happen to (whatever happened to, whatever happened to) Wild life (wild life) The animals in the zoo? (Whatever happened to, whatever happened to).
