The Dark Frontier is a deep electro-tribal soundscape that pays homage to African heritage. Baer's atmospheres are built primarily from ethnic acoustic textures and rhythms. Much like his peers, Coyote Oldman, he uses electronics sparingly. The arranging and recording are critical to this CD. Baer's soundscape mourns for the lost cultures of the Dark Continent. He also celebrates and honors the cultures. The imagery is vivid; it is like a soundtrack with no film.
