Railroad Earth is a American band formed in Stillwater, New Jersey in 2001. The band's music combines elements of progressive bluegrass, folk, rock, country, jazz, Celtic and other Americana influences. Recognized as "carrying on the tradition of improvisational, genre-spanning music laid forth by the Grateful Dead," Railroad Earth is known for lyrical songwriting and extensive live improvisation.

The Good Life is the third studio album by the bluegrass/jam band Railroad Earth, released on June 8, 2004. So many jam bands seem to forget the importance of good song writing with meaningful lyrics. Railroad Earth's songs are well-crafted stories, and are delivered with outstanding musicianship and strong vocals.

Elko is a double live album by the American band Railroad Earth. It was released in 2006 by Sugar Hill Records. It is the band's first official live album, and fourth album overall.

Railroad Earth Tracklist. 1. Long Walk Home Lyrics. 2. The jupiter & the 119 Lyrics. 8. On The Banks Lyrics.

Railroad Earth's sixth full-length outing finds the New Jersey-based progressive folk-rockers in fine form, tastefully building organic, sonic backdrops around lead vocalist Todd Sheaffer's rich, narratives. Both classic and forward-thinking, the band may be steeped in common jam band trappings (the nearly 12-minute instrumental Spring-Heeled Jack would be far more interesting in a live setting), but between the epic steel-rail journey of The Jupiter & the 119, the mournful Celtic-inspired balladry of On the Banks, and the Liege & Lief-era Fairport.
