The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was an American rock band from New York City, formed in 1991. The group consisted of Judah Bauer on guitar, backing vocals, harmonica and occasional lead vocals, Russell Simins on drums and Jon Spencer on vocals, guitar and theremin.

In the aftermath of Extra Width's success, Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion were drawing large crowds virtually everywhere they played. It both gratified them and made them suspicious - so they hasd to up the ante. The track "Afro" on their previous album provided a clue as to the forthcoming no man's land JBSE would raucously explore. Orange is an almost entirely new sonic terrain-but keeps the trio's trademark: sweaty, musical terrorism and hedonistic rage up front. In 2010 MajorDomo/Shout Factory remastered and re-released the album and included the previously European-only Experimental Remixes EP as a bonus disc in a deluxe package with stellar notes, discographical details, and photos. Orange include seven bonus cuts featuring alternate and studio outtakes as well as rare radio performances.

With Experimental Remixes, various indie rock, dance, and hip-hop luminaries step in to remix and rearrange a handful of Blues Explosion songs, and manage to create an interesting and enjoyable collection. Jon Spencer has long voiced his admiration for hip-hop, so it's no surprise that he would want to collaborate with some of the best samplers and remixers in the business.
