Broken Spindles originally started in 2001 as the soundtrack for a friend's film. It developed into a solo project with the first release in 2002 on Tiger Style Records. In between touring with the Faint and Beep Beep, Petersen found time to write music for Broken Spindles.

Kiss is the debut studio album by American rock band Kiss, released on February 8, 1974. Much of the material on the album was written by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as members of their pre-Kiss band Wicked Lester. Simmons estimated that the entire process of recording and mixing took three weeks, while co-producer Richie Wise has stated it took just 13 days.

Despite not being in working condition, Broken Spindles somehow keep cranking out records at a fairly steady clip. Indeed, Faint bassist Joel Petersen's electronica-ish side thing has another one just about ready for us: Kiss/Kick will descend on the masses February 17 thanks to the Faint's own recently birthed blank. Petersen was just getting started on his latest opus when we talked to him way back in the pre- Fasciinatiion days of March 2007.
