Although the record is recorded with 45rpm it sounds equally amazing on 33 or less. Esp. Side A is an industrial monster that way. Give it a try...

What a great surprise, the underground dungeon master Ancient Methods teaming up with who I consider one of England's finest techno sons, Karl O'Connor! Overdriven, distorted drum kicks, with an almost hip hop rhythmic pattern on the A side, very reminiscent of the style displayed by Speedy J on his "Public Energy #1" album, above all on the Haywire/Hayfever tracks. Some very rusty sound effects, outbursts of static and occasional drones add to the maccabre atmosphere and give that little extra touch of deepness to the music. The B side: after some demented vocals at the beginning, this pulsating hook is dropped, with "trash can" drum programming, and a punching bass line. Soon, some buzzing effects are dropped which make my ears tingle and give me a proper heart-burn. Sounds like some old school filter sweeps, but then around the three minute mark the bass line suddenly gets emphasized and becomes too distorted to handle, and it actually sounds as though it was leaking out of your speaker system. Awesome! My verdict: you might want to take another look on the Downwards side of life! In my opinion, this is the best release this label has put out since the "Fist/Splinter" twelve inch by the British Murder Boys in 2004.
