You know, this is one of those release you need balls to drop in a club and nerves of steel to fully enjoy at home. I will try and avoid sounding like a total lost case, but it is stuff like this I haven't heard (well, almost) since the good old days of the Seico Corp Recordings. This release is about as hard as the dome over St. Peter's Cathedral, but not because of explosive tempos, nasty breaks and eruptions of malevolent hi hats.

Its been a while since the last RSB release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! For their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic German duo Ancient Methods do the honourable thing and break out The whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of Thor himself. Lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this.

Peter's Cathedral, but not because of explosive tempos, nasty breaks and eruptions of malevolent hi hats.In the same manner that Iesope Drift amassed tension through interred structures and massively dense, grey textures, Ancient Methods and their companions, do the same as well and to great effect in my opinion, on The Whip and Eat Like Hawks. These tunes just roll, with enough Plutonium 239 to sink half of the European continent, but best of all is that it isn't overly obvious and thrown in your face. Two magnificent tracks, with immesurable compressive strain and angular frequencies which demand multiple listens to fully grasp.Industrial is the name of the game here, yet take that with a grain of salt. There is no cookie cutter guided-by-the-text-book raw 'n' rusty music here. For all those who think hard and relentless needs a 160+ BPM adrenaline injection, I do wholeheartedly recommend this, especially if you are a fan of the oppressive Rodz Konez sounds or the highly elusive Obscurum/Iesope Drift catalog.Do check this one out, if for no other reason, then just because Ancient Methods seem to be unable to do any wrong, at least this far, and this 12" is far easier to track down those on their own imprint, so you might wanna kick it off with this one.
