Respectable" is a Mel and Kim song written and produced by n that became a UK number one single for one week in March 1987. It was the second UK number one single produced by n, following Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" in 1985, and the first UK number one single that n had written themselves. The single also topped the charts in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Australia and New Zealand in 1987.

Mel & Kim were an English duo, Mel and Kim Appleby, both former models before being discovered by Pete Waterman of the production team Stock, Aitken and Waterman. It was Stock, Aitken and Waterman's first joint composition and production UK They produced Dead Or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)," but didn't write the song. According to 1000 UK Hits by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh, Pete Waterman said, "'Respectable' became an anthem, not just for them and their image, but also for the company itself
